Existing UI
Below is some examples of existing UIs in games - each one has it's own unique style and feel to it. Because of that, every UI and HUD in a game has to be treated differently. Each one serves a unique purpose, or attempts to subvert tropes that HUDs tend to have in order to stand out. Shadow of the Colossus Shadow of the Colossus features little in screen clutter - On the bottom right is the player's information, including Adrenaline, health and weapon. The top left is the targets health. There is a clear difference between what is what - look bottom right for you, top left for them. This simple but effective design contributed to the game's success. League of Legends The UI of League has evolved over the years, and is currently in a state similar to this.
